Can we afford it?

2025 pricing in Collier and Lee Counties’ rental communities:

• 1 time community fee – typically $3500 - $5000
• Independent Living - $4,000 per month - $10,000 per month depending on size and location of apartment in building.
• Assisted Living – Apartment is usually between $6,000 and $8,000 a month but there will be level of care expenses added to that and those will depend on the assessment of the community about how much care the resident will need.
• Memory Care is the most expensive, but the care is all inclusive. Could be as much as $10,000.

Veteran’s Aid and Attendance Benefits
If you are a US veteran or the surviving spouse of a veteran, you may be eligible to receive up to $1800 per month to help pay for assistance with activities of daily life and/or required clinical care. This could be in a setting such as a personal care home or assisted living community. This benefit is a federal benefit provided through the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

Reverse Mortgages

Companion Living

This is a more affordable option for two individuals looking for cost savings. Companion suites offer lower monthly rates. Companion living is great for couples, friends and those looking to build new close friendships.

Are there extra charges?

There are few extra charges. Some are for barber and beauty shop, guest meals, going out for lunch as a group with the community or to some event, having a caregiver accompany the resident to a dr. appointment, covered parking.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, you may have a pet in Assisted Living or Independent Living as long as you can care for it yourself. Usually, a one-time fee is charged...somewhere in the neighborhood of $500

How far is it from the church?

Many communities take their residents by bus to local churches as well as having rabbis, ministers, priests and other religious officiants provide services in the building

Will I have to move again?

You may have to move if you need more care than the community can provide.

Must we eat their meals?

If you’re in Independent Living you pay for 2 meals a day with your apartment fee and 3 meals a day if you’re in Assisted Living or Memory Care. However, you’re welcome to go out for meals.

Do they have golf?

No leasing communities have golf course but a few have putting greens. Some Life Care or CCRC Communities do have golf courses.

What about transportation?

Transportation is included with your rental fee --- usually for a 10 or 15 mile radius.

What are "levels of care"?

Levels of care are determined for Assisted Living residence by the community in conjunction with the resident’s doctor. It depends on how much care the person needs with activities of daily living
